Verified View Montages (VVM) Portfolio
A Visual Impact Assessment is a comprehensive document that is produced by a planning consultant in conjunction with the client and architectural design team. The document demonstrates and comments on how a proposed development sits within its surrounding environment. Our contribution to such a document is in the form of verified view montages. These verifed view montages help planning consultants write an accurate report based on the visual impact a development may or may not have.
We work closely with every client to ensure that the project goals are accurately met and delivered on time. Based on our 16 years experience, we help advise on the proposed viewpoints for verified view montages. We achieve this through clear and constant communication with our clients.
There are six distinct stages involved in a Visual Impact Assessment project. These are as follows:
Stage 1: Consultation and establishing requirements
Initial discussions are required to determine the requirements of our client. We will advise on the best approach and the proposed viewpoints for the montages. All consultations at this stage are free of charge. A detailed fee proposal will be issued based on this consultation stage.
Stage 2: Instruction and issue of information
Upon instruction, we will request that all necessary information is sent to us in order to commence work on the project. It is likely that we will have advised on the information required during stage 1. However further information may be requested upon instruction such as site survey information.
Stage 3: Site Visit for high resolution photography
We carry out an extensive photographic site visit that will cover all proposed viewpoints to the site. From this survey of photos the best shots will be chosen to superimpose the digital 3D model of the proposed development. The full survey of photos will be issued to the client for discussion purposes.
Stage 4: 3D modelling, 3D visualisation and draft material
This is the ‘project phase’ and involves carrying out the various processes to create the required visual impact assessment photomontages. Structural and material drafts will be issued for comments throughout the project. Stage 4 will not commence until sign off of all draft imagery has been received.
Stage 5: Sign off and production of final material
Upon sign off of all draft imagery, the high resolution images will be rendered and the final phase of the project carried out – post production. Final proofs will be issued for minor comments and/or sign off.
Stage 6: Issue of final material
Upon sign off of all final proofs, all images will be issued at high resolution. They will be issued electronically through the online file sharing service known as Hightail. High resolution pdfs containing ‘before’ and ‘after’ shots from each viewpoint will also be issued as part of the project deliverables. Where the proposed development cannot be seen, it will be outlined in the photo.
