More Student Accommodation in the Pipeline for Dublin!
The following news is sure to be welcomed by the students around Dublin city as rents continue to cripple most. Team3DDB have yet again completed another series of high quality CGIs and accurate verified view montages for another student accommodation scheme in Dublin city centre. Ziggurat, a UK student accommodation provider has bought a number of key sites in Dublin’s north city centre as part of a €400 million Irish expansion plan. One piece of this €400M jigsaw puzzle includes the acquisition a site at Dominick Street Upper in which they plan to demolish an existing vacant commercial building and resurrect a student living space. The key thing about this scheme, not to mention the foresight of Ziggurat, is that the proposed new Luas Cross City runs right outside the proposed new scheme!. The proposed development has been lodged for planning and is pending a decision.

Project Type & Name: Proposed Student Residence Dominick Street Upper, Dublin.

Project Details: 0.19 ha site located at Nos. 58-64 Dominick Street Upper and adjoining surface car park to the west. The proposed development comprises of the demolition of the existing vacant commercial building on part of the site and the construction of a 6 storey over lower ground floor/basement level student accommodation development (247 no. bed spaces in 50 no. clusters, including 16 no. studios), including setback at fifth storey from Dominick Street Upper (north elevation) and to the west elevation. The proposed development is for student accommodation or accommodation related to a Higher Education Institute only during the academic year and student accommodation or accommodation related to a Higher Education Institute or tourist/visitor accommodation only during academic holiday periods. The development will include an outdoor amenity area, rooftop terrace, café (83 sq.m gross) at ground floor level and ancillary services for the student accommodation including reception/foyer, games room, social room, and quiet room all at ground floor level with laundry room, bin store area, music room, storage, plant room and 124 no. bicycle spaces provided at lower ground/basement level.
Access to the development is to be via controlled pedestrian accesses on Dominick Street Upper and Henrietta Lane. Cycle access will be via a proposed cycle ramp along the private laneway to the west of the application site. Vehicular access will be from Dominick Street Upper. Permission is also sought for all ancillary engineering and site development works necessary to facilitate the development. The total gross floor space of the proposed development is 8,006 sq.m.
