Cork Welcomes 205 Bedroom Student Accommodation Scheme
Asset Management Group Atelier are presently one of the key players in Ireland, when it comes to property asset management. They have specific expertise in managing student and multi-family accommodation in a wide range of locations and markets with Cork being one of the key locations in focus for the company. To put things in perspective, Ziggurat a well-known name in student accommodation is currently part of Atelier’s portfolio. Ziggurat recently redeveloped the former Montrose Hotel in Dublin, a project 3D Design Bureau also worked on and the company is now busy with the development of a 0.8 acre site of a former Esso Station on Western Road, Cork between the River Lee Hotel and University College Cork. The scheme forms part of the Ziggurat’s plan to create an additional 1,000 student beds in Cork city, and an additional 4,000 student beds nationwide before the end of 2020.
The set of verified view montages produced by #team3DDB have helped lead to the grant of permission of the proposed student accommodation on Western Road in Cork. And with planning secured work is already underway on the marketing of the proposed scheme. The Irish market has exploded of late when it comes to the development of student accommodation and with this project under the belt #team3DDB are currently working on five other large scale student accommodation projects.
The proposed development on Western Road in Cork will consist of 205 bedrooms in six- and eight-bedroom units. Each bedroom will have an en suite bathroom, a shared kitchen/dining area and 24/7 security. Team3DDB had the pleasure of being part of the design team, spearheaded by DTA Architects, in the production of a number of high-quality accurate photomontages and CGIs which are playing a vital role in the planning and marketing process.
Ziggurat are also hoping to identify another three or four sites in Cork which will represent a dominant part of its €400m investment in the Irish market. According to the company’s chief investment officer “this is part of their plan to accelerate its exit from the UK market after the Brexit vote.” Not so good news for the UK but fantastic for the Irish market.
We wish all involved much success and look forward to further collaborations on future projects.
