Architectural Montage Portfolio

‘Helping to secure planning permission through photorealistic and accurate 3D imagery!’

A photomontage is the superimposition of a digital architectural 3D model into a single or series of high resolution photographs. This superimposition of a 3D model with photography gives an accurate representation of what a proposed property development will look like when it is built. Photomontages are a key tool in the planning application process and can be the difference between winning and loosing planning permission.

We work closely with every client to ensure that their expectations and goals are accurately met and delivered on time. We achieve this through clear and constant communication. There are six distinct stages involved in a photomontage project.

Stage 1: Consultation and establishing requirements

Initial discussions are required to determine the requirements of our client. No matter what the project objective is, we will advise on the best approach. All consultations at this stage are free of charge. A detailed fee proposal will be issued based on this consultation stage.

Stage 2: Instruction and issue of information

Upon instruction, we will request that all necessary information is sent to us in order to commence work on the project. It is likely that we will have advised on the information required during stage 1. However further information may be requested upon instruction such as material finishes and reference photos.

Stage 3: Site Visit for high resolution photography

We carry out an extensive photographic site visit that will cover all potential viewpoints to the site. From this survey of photos the best shots will be chosen to superimpose the digital 3D model. The full survey of photos will be issued to the client for discussion purposes.

Stage 4: 3D modelling, 3D visualisation and draft material

This is the ‘project phase’ and involves carrying out the various processes to create the required architectural photomontages. Structural and material drafts will be issued for comments throughout the project. Stage 4 will not commence until sign off of all draft imagery has been received.

Stage 5: Sign off and production of final material

Upon sign off of all draft imagery, the high resolution images will be rendered and the final phase of the project carried out – post production. Final proofs will be issued for minor comments and/or sign off.

Stage 6: Issue of final material

Upon sign off of all final proofs, all photomontages will be issued at high resolution. They will be issued electronically through the online file sharing service known as Hightail. High resolution pdfs containing ‘before’ and ‘after’ shots from each viewpoint will also be issued as part of the project deliverables.
