Building Components to BIM Portfolio
‘Helping building component manufacturers become BIM compliant’
As BIM gathers momentum around the world, component manufacturers that are not BIM compliant will loose sales and be left behind. Our BIM component service converts all 2D product information and specifications into data rich 3D BIM models. This then allows for building products to be used at the early BIM design stages of a project by design teams. A BIM catalogue allows for building component products to contribute to the entire design and build process and through to operation and facilities management.
We work closely with clients to ensure that their entire product range is converted into a BIM catalogue. All product information and technical information is embedded within each BIM model product.
There are four distinct stages involved in BIM Component project. These are as follows:
Stage 1: Consultation and establishing requirements
Initial discussions are required to determine the quantity of products to be modelled. We will advise on the best approach and level of detail to be implemented based on the requirements discussed. All consultations at this stage are free of charge. A detailed fee proposal will be issued based on this consultation stage.
Stage 2: Instruction and issue of information
Upon instruction, we will request that all necessary information is sent to us in order to commence work on the project. This will include the 2D Cad drawings and spec sheets for each product.
Stage 3: BIM modelling
This is the ‘project phase’ and involves the production of a Revit BIM model from the 2D drawing information supplied. 3D modelling takes place within Revit. Each product model will contain three levels of detail – course, medium and fine and will contain all the requested data. A draft model will be issued for comment and/or sign off.
Stage 4: Sign off and issue of final material
Upon sign off of the draft BIM models, each one will be issued electronically. Other deliverables may include 3D renders of each product, pdf sheets and 2D plans, sections and elevations.
